🔥 We’re hiring a Sales Development Engineer — a hybrid technical storyteller who turns customer pain into pipeline, insight, and impact.
This role is for someone who speaks both data and human: comfortable running discovery, crafting outbound that resonates, and building lightweight demos inside Mage that make prospects say, “wait… show me more.”
You’ll work directly with the founders to shape our earliest GTM motions — qualifying inbound from our massive open-source community, running targeted outbound into high-value data and AI accounts, and creating technical proof-points that show customers what’s possible with Mage.

What You’ll Do
Bridge discovery → demo → opportunity — Run technical discovery with data teams, understand their current workflows, and translate problems into Mage-native solutions.
Create technical proof-points that open deals — Build mini-demos, example pipelines, and lightweight POCs that make our value instantly real for prospects.
Own first-touch technical credibility — Handle inbound qualification, ask sharp questions, and quickly determine whether the prospect is a fit for Mage.
Run targeted outbound into high-signal accounts — Write personalized outreach informed by your technical understanding of data engineering patterns, cloud stacks, and AI workflows.
Collaborate with founders, product, and engineering — Surface customer insights, gaps, and repeated friction points that directly shape roadmap and GTM strategy.
Build the GTM engine as you go — Create reusable demo templates, vertical playbooks, objection handling guides, and solution patterns that become the backbone of future SEs and AEs.
Become the connective tissue between product and sales — You’re the person who makes sure the story, the demo, and the technical reality all match.
Who You Are
Comfortable with data + cloud tooling — You know your way around pipelines, APIs, SQL, orchestration, and modern data infrastructure (Mage experience is a plus, not a requirement).
A natural explainer — You can break down complex systems into simple narratives — for engineers and for executives.
Curious and investigative — You ask great questions, probe for pain, and enjoy mapping workflows to uncover where value hides.
Hands-on and scrappy — You can build a quick demo, mock a dataset, spin up a pipeline, or tweak a workflow without waiting for someone else to unblock you.
Bias for action — You don’t wait for perfect instructions — you test, iterate, and refine until the story is sharp.
